Where are you from?
I’m from Montserrat – the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean! Two thirds of the island was destroyed in volcanic eruptions which started in 1995. Me, and about 4,000 other people occupy whats left of it!
When did you start sewing?
I started teaching myself how to sew in 2018. I wanted a new challenge and a friend recommend I give sewing a try. Its kinda funny because both of my grandmothers were seamstresses but none of their children or grandchildren (until me) learnt to sew!
What size are you?
You can’t talk sewing and not talk size, can you? Size inclusivity is a big thing in the sewing community right now, and to that end, size truly matters.
I am 5′ 8.5″ and carry most of my height in my legs. My current measurements are Bust 42″/ Waist 34″/ Hips 43″. I am a sewing C-cup.
What’s your favourite thing to sew?
I really really like sewing dresses and to that end I’ve taken a lot of time working out the fit adjustments I need for a basic woven bodice. Rayon and poplin are my substrates of choice and I hardly ever sew with knits, even though people say they are easier to work with!
Do you have a favourite colour?
My current wardrobe is overflowing with tons of colour which is a far cry from my pre-sewing days when black and white were my colours of choice. Since I had my colours professionally done by Your Colour Guru, I know EXACTLY what colours are most flattering on me, and am working on refining my wardrobe based on a Winter palette.
